Polite Vowels

When one vowel comes directly after another vowel, the first vowel becomes a long vowel.
The second vowel becomes silent.

((Story for children))
When two vowels meet each other, the first one introduces itself - says it's name(alphabet).
The second one, being polite, listens.
We know it would be rude to interrupt, so it doesn't say anything.
